A beautiful day for "salameandering" (wandering around and looking for salamanders.)

Ensatina Salamander (Ensatina eschscholtzii.) This individual is an adult; from their heft, I gather this one made it though the summer aestivation well-fed.
Second Ensatina found under the same log as the above individual ("Rocky Bottom Log.")
Redwood Sideband Snail (Monadenia infumata) eating lichen on a fallen branch.
Artist's Conk (Ganoderma brownii) on a Peppernut log ("Big Woodpecker Log.") The shiny surface is only visible during/just after rain; it will soon be obscured by rust-brown spores from the porous white surface beneath.
A particularly well-hydrated lichen dislodged from Coast Redwood canopy.
