Smoky-Gilled Hypholoma Mushrooms & Ferns

Smoky-Gilled Hypholoma (Hypholoma capnoides) fruiting in a cluster on a fallen Coast Redwood ("Up & Over Log.") The shade here is much deeper than this photo shows; the yellow bits of these mushrooms practically glow against the darkness.
Gills and stipe of a mature Smoky-Gilled Hypholoma mushroom.
Cluster of twenty-seven tiny Smoky-Gilled Hypholoma mushrooms. Since the weather took a turn for the dry, these mushrooms may not fully develop.
