Note: I've been posting a lot of content to Twitter that doesn't make it onto this blog, so I thought I'd start sharing the same content here. This post is based on this Twitter thread. - Damaris
Hey friends. Here are some pictures I took for you in #Roys Redwoods this morning. This spot of sunlight on Coast Redwood foliage struck me as particularly splendid.
Cross Orbweaver (Araneus diadematus) worked very hard on this graph
This patch of Dog Vomit Slime Mold (Fuligo septica) was hiding between fallen redwoods. Zoom in to see the structure!
I found lots more Wolf's Milk Slime Mold (Lycogala epidendrum) today.
Brain-like texture of Wolf's Milk visible in this photo.
Foliage on a little Tanoak (Notholithocarpus densiflorus)

Found my first Verspericola of the wet season! I believe this is V. marinensis, the Marin Hesperian. I heart fuzzy snails
A bit of lichen, fallen from the Coast Redwood canopy
Last but not least: the first soft-bodied mushrooms of the wet season! These are Hypholoma capnoides, the Smoky-Gilled Hypholoma. This fungus fruits throughout the rainy season in #RoysRedwoods on a certain fallen redwood. I'll show you the gills when they get bigger.
